Inverse mean value property of solutions to the modified Helmholtz equation

چکیده

A theorem characterizing balls in the Euclidean space R m \mathbb {R}^m analytically is proved. For this purpose, positive solutions of modified Helmholtz equation are applied instead harmonic functions used previous results. The resulting Kuran type involves volume mean value property to equation. Other plausible inverse properties these discussed.

A numerical scheme based on mean value solutions for the Helmholtz equation on triangular grids

A numerical treatment for the Dirichlet boundary value problem on regular triangular grids for homogeneous Helmholtz equations is presented, which also applies to the convection-diffusion problems. The main characteristic of the method is that an accuracy estimate is provided in analytical form with a better evaluation than that obtained with the usual finite difference method. Besides, this cl...

Sampling and reconstruction of solutions to the Helmholtz equation

We consider the inverse problem of reconstructing general solutions to the Helmholtz equation on some domain Ω from their values at scattered points x1, . . . , xn ⊂ Ω. This problem typically arises when sampling acoustic fields with n microphones for the purpose of reconstructing this field over a region of interest Ω contained in a larger domain D in which the acoustic field propagates. In ma...

Reconstruction of solutions to the Helmholtz equation from punctual measurements

We analyze the sampling of solutions to the Helmholtz equation (e.g. sound fields in the harmonic regime) using a least-squares method based on approximations of the solutions by sums of Fourier-Bessel functions or plane waves. This method compares favorably to others such as Orthogonal Matching Pursuit with a Fourier dictionary. We show that using a significant proportion of samples on the bor...

An inverse problem for Helmholtz equation

This article is concerned with subsurface material identification for the 2-D Helmholtz equation. The algorithm is iterative in nature. It assumes an initial guess for the unknown function and obtains corrections to the guessed value. It linearizes the otherwise nonlinear problem around the background field. The background field is the field variable generated using the guessed value of the unk...

Fast integral equation methods for the modified Helmholtz equation

Talk Abstract We present an efficient integral equation method approach to solve the forced heat equation, ut(x) − ∆u(x) = F (x, u, t), in a two dimensional, multiply connected domain, with Dirichlet boundary conditions. We first discretize in time, which is known as Rothe’s method, resulting in a non-homogeneous modified Helmholtz equation that is solved at each time step. We formulate the sol...
